UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Students Hold Environmental Care Action at Setu Pak Keling

Depok, February 15, 2025 – The Social Welfare Study Program Student Association (HMPS), Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta successfully held the 2025 Protect Nature and Environment Together (BERLIAN) event. This activity aims to raise awareness of the importance of cleanliness and environmental preservation around Setu Pak Keling, Sawangan, Depok.

Carrying the theme of Achieve Together Protect Nature and the Environment, for a Bright Future, this event involved various real actions such as cleaning the lake area, planting tree seedlings, and distributing fish seeds. This event was attended by students from various classes and the surrounding community who participated in preserving the environment.

Series of Activities

The event began with an interactive discussion using the Lightning Decision Jam method that discussed environmental issues in Indonesia. The discussion was moderated by Muhammad Indragiri Effendy from Dewantara Impact and provided insights and solutions to the environmental challenges faced.

After the discussion session, the participants immediately went to the field to clean up around Setu Pak Keling. They collected trash and sorted it according to its type. Not only that, the committee also handed over trash bins to local residents to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness.

In addition to the clean-up action, the activity was continued with planting guava tree seedlings and spreading fish seeds in the waters of Setu. This step was taken to maintain the environmental ecosystem and help balance the aquatic habitat in the area.

Support and Appreciation

The BERLIAN 2025 event received support from various parties, including the Head of the Social Welfare Study Program, Ahmad Zaky, M.Si, who also attended the event. In his speech, he appreciated the students' concern in protecting the environment and hoped that activities like this could continue in the future.

The chief executive of BERLIAN 2025, Faris Irsyad Sahal, also expressed his gratitude to all parties who have supported and participated in this event. "We hope that this event will not only have an impact on the environment around Setu Pak Keling, but can also increase awareness of students and the community about the importance of preserving nature for future generations," he said.

Results and Expectations

With this activity, Setu Pak Keling is now cleaner and greener. The presence of planted tree seedlings is expected to provide long-term benefits for the local ecosystem. Meanwhile, the distribution of fish seeds also aims to balance aquatic life in the setu area.

HMPS Social Welfare hopes that the BERLIAN 2025 event can be an example for similar activities in the future, where students and the community can collaborate in preserving the environment. Hopefully this effort can be a small step that has a big impact on preserving Indonesia's nature.
