The Debate Team of the UIN JAKARTA Da'wah Management Study Program Won 2nd Place in the National Debate Competition at the "Nebuka Festival 2025"
JAKARTA, May 3, 2025, Another proud success was achieved by the State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences. This time, the brilliant achievement came from three students of the Da'wah Management Study Program who won 2nd place in the national debate competition at the "Nebuka Festival 2025" event. This prestigious event held by Dian Nusantara University on May 2, 2025, was attended by 10 representative teams from various universities in Jakarta and its surroundings, making the competition even more competitive and determining expertise in the competition.
The UIN Syarif Hidayatullah debate team, led by Achmad Diponegoro (MD 4A) with two other colleagues Uzlifah Ismiyanti (MD 4B) and Isdandi Kamili (MD 4B), contributed spectacular quality and ability throughout the competition. They passed the preliminary round, semifinals, and finals with full strategy and confidence. Although the preliminary rounds provided leeway for preparation time at home, the pressure increased in the semifinals and finals, where the preparation time was limited to only 20 minutes before the debate began. So this requires speed of thinking, accuracy of argumentation, and solid teamwork.
In the jury's assessment, the Dakwah Management team showed extraordinary cohesion in building systematic and convincing arguments. Despite a slight deficiency in strengthening data in the final round and a few technical errors in delivery, their excellence in debate strategy and teamwork managed to bring them to the top position. This shows the fierce struggle of the preliminary round that paid off. As a form of appreciation, the team received a certificate, an award trophy, and coaching money of Rp750,000.
"This is a very valuable experience for us," said Achmad Diponegoro, the team leader, gratefully. "Alhamdulillah, we were able to win 2nd place. This competition taught us the importance of teamwork, speed of thought, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. We learned to complement and strengthen each other, so that the shortcomings of one member can be covered by the other members." He added.
The 2025 Nebuka Festival itself aims to hone critical thinking skills, accuracy in responding to current issues, and persuasive communication skills in students. Hopefully, this activity can be a fun and challenging learning and self-development space for the young generation of Indonesia. The organizing committee hopes that this competition can continue every year with a wider range of participants and increasing debate quality.
