Social Welfare Study Program Participates in Training of Trainers on Gender-Based Violence Case Management in Collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

Jakarta (August 20–21, 2025) – The Social Welfare Study Program of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences at the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta participated in the Training of Trainers (ToT) on the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Case Management Training Module for prospective service providers, organized by the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with UNFPA.

The activity, which took place in the Ahmad Dahlan Meeting Room, KemenPPPA Building, Jakarta, aimed to increase the capacity of prospective service personnel in the prevention and handling of Gender-Based Violence. Participants received reinforcement related to basic gender concepts, legal frameworks, case management principles, and participatory and gender-sensitive training facilitation skills.

In her speech, Sylvianti Angraini, Assistant Deputy for Women's Rights Protection Governance and Integrated Service Implementation Strategy, said that strengthening the capacity of service providers is an important strategy in ensuring that victims of GBV receive professional protection and assistance. “Through this training, it is hoped that the participants can become competent facilitators and be able to expand the service network across sectors so that many social service personnel with competence in handling Gender-Based Violence will emerge,” she said.

From UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, nine lecturers and academics attended as participants, namely Ahmad Zaky, MSI, Dr. Siti Napsiyah, MSW., Nadya Kharima, M.Kesos. Nunung Khoiriyah, M.A, Dr. Wati Nilamsari, M.Si., Elisa Kurniadewi, M.Si., Psychologist., Tatum Tivani, M.Pd, Chamiyatus Sidqiyah, M.Kesos, and Isna Rahmawati, M.Ling.

The two-day event also featured various important sessions, including discussions on the philosophy of social work, basic gender concepts, national and international legal instruments, self-care, and case handling simulations and role-plays. All activities were guided by speakers Miriam Nainggolan and Aenea Marella, M.Psi, Psychologist from the Pulih Foundation.

This ToT is expected to strengthen the role of universities in supporting the efforts of the government and international development partners in preventing and handling Gender-Based Violence in Indonesia with an approach based on becoming facilitators in training service personnel in the prevention and handling of Gender-Based Violence.
