Master of Da'wah Management UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Holds Workshop on Making Research Proposals: Encourage Students to Produce Quality Research
Jakarta, May 16, 2025 – In order to improve the quality of student research, the Master of Da'wah Management Study Program UIN held a workshop entitled "Making Research Proposals" with the main focus on "Determining Research Questions in Making Thesis Proposals". The event, which was held on Friday, May 16, 2025, took place from 13.30 WIB until finished, and was attended by active students of the Master of Da'wah Management Program.
This activity was opened by the Head of the Master of Da'wah Management Study Program, Dr. Cecep Castrawijaya, M.A., who in his speech emphasized the importance of student readiness in entering the thesis preparation stage. "We hold this program as a form of support for students so that they can complete their studies on time with quality results. A proposal is not only an administrative requirement, but is the main foundation of research that has an academic contribution," he said.
Dr. Cecep also encouraged students not only to complete their final assignments, but also to go beyond that: to produce scientific works that are useful and able to answer current issues in the field of da'wah. "We want students to not only graduate, but also leave an academic trail through research that can be published and become references," he added.
As the main resource person in this activity, Dr. Wahyu Prasetyawan, M.A., an academic and experienced researcher, was present. In his presentation, Dr. Wahyu emphasized that the most crucial initial step in compiling a thesis proposal is to formulate an appropriate and meaningful research question. "A good research question is one that is able to explore gaps in previous research. That's where we find gaps or novelties that become added value to our research," he said.
Furthermore, Dr. Wahyu invited students to build a habit of reading intensively. He said that quality references can only be found by diligently browsing scientific articles from reputable journals. "The key is in scientific literacy. Read scientific works that are of good standard. From there we learn to build a systematic and critical framework of thinking," he explained.
He also reminded us that many small things around us actually hold great research potential. "We are often fixated on big topics, even though around us there are unique social realities that have not been widely researched. Our job is to open our minds and sensitivity to seize these opportunities," he said.
Closing his material, Dr. Wahyu expressed his hope that student research would not stop in the seminar room or the supervisor's desk, but could become a real scientific contribution. "I hope that your work will be useful, become a reference for the next generation, and of course can be published in national and international journals," he concluded.
This workshop received a positive response from participants who felt more enlightened and confident in compiling their thesis proposals. It is hoped that similar activities can continue to be carried out sustainably to encourage a productive and competitive academic atmosphere in the Master of Da'wah Management environment at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta
