Jakarta, December 2, 2025 — The Department of Social Welfare (Kesejahteraan Sosial), Faculty of Da’wa and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, strengthened its international academic atmosphere by hosting an International Public Lecture as part of the Qualitative Research Methodology course. This session carried the theme: “Qualitative Data Analysis for Undergraduate Students: Strategy to Use Field Data into Journal Article and Undergraduate Thesis.”
The lecture, held on Tuesday, December 2, from 10:00 to 12:00 PM at the Prof. Husnul Aqib Soeminto Theater, 2nd Floor of the FDIKOM Building, featured Dr. Menhaz Gul from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan. Dr. Gul was invited as a Fellowship Expert under FDIKOM’s academic internationalization initiative.
Attended by all fifth-semester students of the Social Welfare program, the lecture provided an in-depth and practical exploration of qualitative data analysis—an essential skill for students currently completing the Qualitative Research Methodology course. Throughout the session, Dr. Gul delivered a clear and systematic explanation of how to analyze qualitative data, from critical reading of field transcripts and coding procedures to transforming field findings into publishable journal articles and undergraduate theses.
Head of the Social Welfare Study Program, Ahmad Zaky, emphasized the importance of this international learning experience for strengthening students’ research capabilities.
“This kind of learning strengthens students’ analytical skills and places them on par with global academic standards,” he stated.
This international lecture reflects the Social Welfare Department’s commitment to enriching the academic environment with global perspectives and equipping students with strong methodological competencies. The department hopes that this experience will support students in developing rigorous qualitative research skills for both scholarly articles and their final undergraduate theses.
