FDIKOM signed an MoA with CSEAS Kyoto University, as well as Research Collaboration and Guest Lecturers
On November 14-15, 2014, the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM) and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) at Kyoto University marked a strategic step in strengthening academic and research relations between the two institutions. This collaboration includes several important programs, such as collaborative research and guest lecturer programs, which aim to enrich the fields of da'wah studies, communication science, and Southeast Asian studies.
It should be noted that research collaboration between FDIKOM UIN Jakarta and CSEAS has been established, one of the latest research results published is a book entitled Local Governance of Peatland Restoration in Riau, Indonesia. After that, we discussed Collaborative Research in the Field of Da'wah, Communication, and Asian Studies. With FDIKOM's expertise in da'wah and communication science and CSEAS in Southeast Asian studies, this research collaboration can focus on topics such as cross-cultural communication, studies of religion and society, social media and its influence on religious communities, and the role of communication in social development in the Southeast Asian region.
lecturer program of CSEAS Kyoto University can bring in academics who are experts in Southeast Asian studies, anthropology, or sociology of religion to give lectures, seminars, and workshops for FDIKOM students and lecturers. This allows FDIKOM students to understand global topics related to da'wah and communication from a broader perspective.
FDIKOM and CSEAS can collaborate in organizing international workshops and seminars, both online and offline. These workshops can discuss current issues such as the role of religion in Southeast Asian society, the dynamics of social media in preaching, and intercultural communication studies, and attract participants from various countries.
This workshop and seminar will not only provide opportunities for students and lecturers from both institutions to exchange knowledge, but also open up opportunities for further collaboration between researchers, either in the form of joint scientific articles or long-term research projects. The research results resulting from this collaboration can be published together in international journals, books, or conference proceedings, which will increase the visibility and academic reputation of FDIKOM in the international arena. It also makes a real contribution to the academic literature in the fields of da'wah, communication, and Southeast Asian studies.
CSEAS and FDIKOM can publish a series of publications documenting the results of collaborative research, which can be accessed by academics, students, and practitioners in various countries. This publication can be an important reference source in the study of cross-cultural and religious communication in the Southeast Asian region.
Overall, the MoA between FDIKOM and CSEAS Kyoto University opens up various opportunities for knowledge exchange, research development, and educational capacity building. This collaboration is also expected to provide positive contributions to the study of da'wah and communication in Southeast Asia, while strengthening academic relations between Indonesia and Japan in the long term.
